Hi hi! I’m Abbie! Also known as Abbie, Abbie Joy, Abs, smol blonde, and in middle school someone once called me abs without abs, but we can leave that one in the past. I am so excited you’re here! Welcome to the relaunch of abbie joy photography – new brand, new website, but same me, same vision, same purpose, to capture stories, YOUR stories!!
My heart is for people more than anything, and that comes through in my work. Don’t get me wrong, I love capturing beauty, but I believe the most beautiful thing is a good story that is already being written. I love the Lord and I believe His love, joy, and creativity is all over our stories. Truly, getting to capture that may be the best job ever. Meeting incredible people, capturing beautiful, authentic moments, and chasing sunsets?! What a GIFT.
I love being able to come alongside people in their stories and capture, serve, and create with them! That is the heart of abbie joy photography – it is to capture the stories that are already being written. abbie joy photography is all about authenticity, joy, and the simple moments of life. That is what photography is at its core, right? Photography was made to capture MOMENTS that are already happening/authentic stories, not to craft the perfect image.
Here’s a little bit more of my heart behind what I want my work to be – maybe a little bit vulnerable, as this was written in the middle of the night, but I think it’s important for my clients to know the PERSON behind the camera that they are going to be working with! Especially for a wedding day, you want your photographer to be someone you vibe with, because they are going to be with you every moment of the biggest day of your life!! SO! With that said, here’s a little snippet from my midnight thoughts – “I want my work to encapsulate my name. I want joy to shine through. I want the spunk and fire and bubbles and spark that is Abbie Joy to be abbie joy photography. I want my work to inspire and be inspired. I don’t want to just rush into a session and do the same thing every time. I want to get to know the people I’m working with. I want to be intentional. I want my work to tell a story, to tell their story. I want my work to light up a room the way their smile does. I want my work to cause you to tear up like watching a home video with little you dancing and singing into a microphone that’s really just a fork. I want my work to encapsulate the stories that the Lord has so perfectly written, that are far better than anything we could ask or imagine on our own.”
thanks for reading my first blog post! This is all pretty new to me but I want to get better at sharing more of my thoughts, so here’s to a new website and more sharing from me!
xoxo,
abbie joy
